Aucklanders are being urged to see the positives in the new 10-year Budget.
Councillors voted 10 to 9 to approve the controversial document.
Councillor Penny Webster believes if that hadn't happened, the Super City would have ended up today with a huge extra debt.
While it includes an overall rates rise this year of 2.5 percent, she feels it is extremely frustrating the public aren't hearing the good news.
"One of the biggest issues in Rodney is unsealed roads. The transport levy is going to increase the budget for sealing roads from $3 million in 3 years, to $10 million."
Webster said internal costs have been absolutely slashed, and the Council's new chief financial officer is finding a lot of savings.
