Things are about to get electric for train passengers in west Auckland.
After of record passenger numbers in March, Auckland Transport has confirmed the Western line will be served by new electric trains by the end of July.
Passengers on the line have been suffering numerous delays lately, as the old diesel trains repeatedly break down.
An unexplained staffing issue has also been causing serious disruption in the last couple of days, with more cancelled services this morning.
Neither Auckland Transport or rail operator Transdev have explained what those problems are.
