It has been another busy night for emergency services responding to weather-related calls - including flooding, slips and several rescues - across Auckland. Several people have been rescued, including at least one person who was rescued when a car and carport collapsed in a landslide in Titirangi.
Fire and Emergency said five people were rescued from properties hit by landslips, or they had become trapped by floodwater.
Ken Cooper, who’s running the FENZ Region coordination centre in Auckland, told RNZ that crews fielded about 60 calls for help overnight from Auckland into the Waikato. There were no reported injuries.
Among those call-outs was the incident in Titirangi, West Auckland, where a landslip caused a carport and vehicle to fall on to a property below.
