The first stage of work to extend the baggage hall at Auckland Airport has been completed, with a 90 metre extension and sixth baggage carousel installed.

The work is part of a project to combine the airport's domestic and international terminals, which will also see a seventh baggage belt installed next year.

The biosecurity area administered by the Ministry for Primary Industries has also been extended.
