The Northland Regional Council is calling for applications for its newly adopted Contestable Emergency Services Fund.
The annual $900,000 fund is part of the regional council's new Long Term Plan and replaces its former emergency services helicopter rate and all other similar funding from Northland's four councils.
Council chairman Bill Shepherd says registration is now open for emergency service organisations and a two stage process will follow, determining the eligibility of applicants before considering particular financial requests.
Applications close on Friday August 21st with funding likely to be granted by November.
