Author and inspirational speaker, Sir Ken Robinson says education systems need to recognise people have different interests, talents and abilities.
He told Mike Hosking we can customise our cars, and furnish our homes, buy our clothes and order our food according to our interests.
"There is absolutely no reason why we can't move beyond these mass systems of standardised education, to something much more nuanced, customised and personalised for people going through the system."
He says the more technology and business needs change, the more we'll recognise this makes good economic sense.
Sir Ken will be speaking at a two half-day conferences on March 19 and 20 in Auckland. The first talk focuses on creative schools and the revolutionising of our education system; the second will cover creating a culture of creativity and innovation in business.
