As New Zealand waits on its new government, Austrian politicians have started a similar bargaining process on the other side of the world.
The conservative People's Party has won the most votes of any Austrian party and it's expected to form a government with the far-right Freedom Party due to their similar anti-immigration stance.
European Government expert, Richard Maher told Mike Hosking the negotiating time depends on how many baubles of office the second-place party asks for.
"They are probably going to ask for the positions of Foreign Minister and Interior Minister, it seems like this is what they're going to be bargaining for."
