New Zealand film editor John Gilbert is getting ready for his day at the Oscars.
LISTEN ABOVE: John Gilbert spoke to Mike Hosking ahead of the Academy Awards this afternoon
He's nominated for best editor for his work on Mel Gibson's Hacksaw Ridge and is up against entries from La La Land and Hell or High Water.
As a member of the Film Academy he voted for himself but told Mike Hosking winning would mean making a nerve wracking speech in front of millions.
He said with 100 million people watching, the idea of getting up and having to accept the award is slightly terrifying.
Mr Gilbert won a BAFTA earlier this month.
Based in Wellington - he's previously been nominated for an Oscar in 2002, for his work on The Fellowship of the Ring.
