Jacob Shapiro, Director of Analysis for Geopolitical Futures, joined Leighton Smith to discuss the background to the situation in Aleppo, and what can be expected in future phases of the Syrian civil war.Â
In analysing the situation, he says that the reality of the conflict is that even with the fall of Aleppo, there is almost no hope for any immediate peace, with other rebel groups still active, along with Islamic State.Â
"Aleppo will eventually calm down, and the fighting will move somewhere else, and we'll be talking about the next humanitarian catastrophe." Â
