UPDATED 6.07pm:Â Disaster relief funding has been quickly activated to help Queenslanders in cyclone - and flood-hit communities.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk says the recovery efforts in the worst-hit communities of Yeppoon and Rockhampton are focused on reconnecting power supplies and finding accommodation for 100 families whose homes have been destroyed.
She says families need help now and funding is a first step.
"The funding has been activated and what that means for those people who have been severely impacted is that the immediate hardship assistance kicks in.
"That means $180 per person or up to $900 for a family of five or more."
