Former All Blacks have joined Labour in urging Pacific MPs to vote against the Government's Easter trading reforms.
The Bill reached Committee stage in Parliament this week, and would allow local authorities to be able to open and trade on Easter Sunday.
Former rugby stars Michael Jones and Aiolupotea Tonu'u are pushing to keep Easter Sunday special to allow people to be able to spend time with their churches, communities and families.
Jones never played a test on Sundays and says he wants to keep Easter Sunday protected.
Pacific Vice President for the Labour Party Jerome Mika said the Bill would remove the rights of everyday people.
"What it does mean is it does disadvantage a lot of families, and it also takes away their family time, whether it be religious celebrations, or even just cultural obligations."
Mr Mika said this Bill would also test the integrity of National MPs.
"I think that John Key should have given his members of parliament a free vote, but they've all been forced to vote the party line, which then means that things like Easter Sunday celebrations really compromises some of the faiths of the National MPs."
