There's no love lost between Labour and Hone Harawira.
Mr Harawira has announced he wants to get back into Parliament at the next election, saying Maori MPs aren't doing a good enough job standing up to people. He also said it's unlikely he'd work with Labour.
However, Labour leader Andrew Little isn't bothered.
"Political trash talk of this type - I mean it's very entertaining sometimes, but it doesn't lead to a change in the government and a change in policy that's going to make life better for people - that's what I'm focused on doing."
Labour MP Kelvin Davis defeated Hone Harawira in the Maori electorate of Te Tai Tokerau in 2014 by a narrow margin, so any sort of accommodation is unlikely.
However, while no official alliance is on the cards between Mana and the Maori Party, both sides say they could work together.
Maori Party co-leader Marama Fox said their voters don't want the parties to merge, but the parties have similar goals.
"We've proven I think by working with National that we can pretty much work with anybody."
Fox also rejects Harawira's claims that Maori MPs aren't doing enough, saying they've made several policy gains, and are making themselves heard across news media most nights of the week.
"The person who's been most missing from the political landscape over the last 18 months has been Hone Harawira - I think Hone might be talking about himself."
