An announcement is imminent on whether New Zealand will increase its refugee quota.
The Prime Minister said the issue will be discussed at cabinet today, with an announcement on whether we'll take more than 750 refugees expected soon after.
But John Key told Mike Hosking there's a lot to consider, and it's not just as simple as raising the quota.
"Where they go is really important. There's obviously pressure in terms of social housing in Auckland, and of course you're dealing with a very difficult situation at the moment where you really do have a huge number of people."
Our refugee quota has remained at 750 refugees a year since it was introduced in 1976.
