Public servants are fuming, as their bosses' pay packets are beefed up.
MPs are receiving increases of at least $8200 from the Remuneration Authority, backdated to July.
Richard Wagstaff of the Public Service Association says a statement from John Key that he's uncomfortable about it, comes across as disingenuous.
"Nobody buys that. The Prime Minister's in charge of this country, or he's meant to be.
"The public servants haven't had wage rises even keeping up with the world cost of living."
Richard Wagstaff says the big rises come as a slap in the face, in the same week as a 50 cent increase in the minimum wage.
