The Social Development Minister says we should be as willing to help New Zealand children, as we are to welcome refugees.
Anne Tolley made the comment on TVNZ's Q and A programme [this morning] after a government-led report into Child Youth and Family Services.
Ms Tolley says the Government won't be making any changes to CYFS until there's more information, but it's clear New Zealanders could do more.
"New Zealanders are very generous people, we saw that outpouring over the Syrian refugees. We've got children here that need some loving homes and they need people in New Zealand communities to take some responsibility for them."
