UPDATED 8PM: Â The woman killed by a Sumatran tiger at Hamilton Zoo today was 43 year old, Samantha Kudeweh.
Ms Kudeweh held the title of zoo curator and had worked for the zoo for over 20 years. Â
The attack is thought to have happened around 11 this morning, but few details are being released. Â Hamilton City Council chief executive Richard Briggs declined to comment on how the fatal attack happened and refused to confirm reports that Ms Kudeweh was cleaning the enclosure when she was attacked. Â
The zoo's announced male tiger Oz was responsible for the death of Ms Kudeweh.  This is the first fatal attack on a staff member at Hamilton Zoo by one of its animals and they're staying mum on whether the tiger will be put down. Â
Mr Briggs said the zoo will remain closed until Thursday as investigations get underway and has said there will be a blessing of the site.Â
Hamilton mayor Julie Hardaker said it's a very sad day and that the staff are hurting.
Ministry for Primary Industries, WorkSafe and Police continue to investigate. Â
