An Islamic organisation that says it's campaigning against terrorism is holding its annual conference in Auckland today.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community believes people can never use the name of God to justify shedding innocent blood.

National President Mohammad Iqbal says today's gathering is about educating and enlightening people.

"We hope that people who will be attending and listening to this will get first hand views and references of the true Islamic teachings, because we condemn any form of terrorism or violence."

"We believe that as a community in New Zealand it is our duty to be loyal to values, integrate with all the communities in New Zealand and that we safeguard our interests, peace and prosperity."

The convention gets underway at 11 in Manukau.
