Electronics retailer Dick Smith is soon to be gone from New Zealand and Australia.
Around 430 New Zealand staff will be impacted, and two thousand 460 in Australia, as remaining Dick Smith and Move stores close over the next eight weeks.
New Zealand Herald business reporter Christopher Adams said the iconic yellow-and-black stores have been around since the 1980s and despite debt difficulties and trading issues, it remains a huge brand in Australasia.
"The receivers have come out today, their main plan was to sell the business, they've failed in that and they've said that they are going to close down the entire group so that is 363 stores on both sides of the Tasman, 62 of them in New Zealand."
Receiver James Stewart says the sale process has not resulted in any acceptable offers for the group as a whole, or for Australia or New Zealand as standalone businesses.
