Changes to Civil Aviation Laws which will bring in a new certification scheme for people flying drones and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles are being welcomed by the industry.

Aeronavics director Linda Bulk says discussion around the laws is exciting - because it means authorities are taking an interest in the technology.

"To me it's comparable to the car as there were only a few on the road, it didn't really need much regulation and as there were more and more coming on the road they needed to make sure they knew what they were doing."
