The body of a missing kayaker has been found in Lake Rotorua.

Police were called to the lake, near Hamurana, at around 4pm after the man’s body was spotted by a member of the public.

Search and Rescue, Coastguard and the Harbour Master were involved in the search for the man last night and today, after he was reported missing at around 5pm yesterday.

Police are currently notifying the man's next of kin and the matter has been referred to the Coroner.
