Eight people are due to appear in court today after police intercepted a shipment of drugs being smuggled into the country from Fiji.
Â
Police raided five homes across Auckland and arrested six people as part of an ongoing methamphetamine operation linked to the Head Hunters Motorcycle gang.
It follows two arrests last week when a 40-year-old man and 28-year-old man were charged with importating and possessing pseudoephedrine.
The eight face a raft of charges including money laundering, participating in an Organised Criminal Group, manufacturing and supplying methamphetamine and supplying and possession of psuedoehpedrine.
The raids are part of Operation Boeing which was launched late last year.
It focused on a patched member of the Head Hunters West Chapter allegedly involved in importing meth ingredient Actifed from Fiji and overseeing the manufacturing and distributing methamphetamine here.
He was arrested earlier this month.
Actifed is a cold and allergy drug that contains pseudoephedrine, a key ingredient in making methamphetamine.
Police also found four kilos of Actifed that they believe was smuggled into the country on board a container vessel.
The houses raided are in Mount Eden, Pakuranga Heights, Mangere East, One Tree Hill and Papakura.
Newman said more arrests are possible.
