A body has been found in a van in south Auckland this morning.

Police officers found the person deceased in the van at 7.40am this morning while conducting a routine patrol of the area.

Police are inquiring into whether the death is suspicious and whether it will be referred to the coroner.

Police said no further information was available at this stage. ​

A Fire Service spokesman said he was unable to comment on the incident as police were leading the investigation.
