New Plymouth could be getting a brand new airport terminal.
The New Plymouth District Council will consider the option at a meeting tomorrow, when it was already due to look at revamping the current terminal.
The airport's manager Wayne Wootton said a new build would be quicker than redeveloping the current building, and more convenient for airport users during construction.
He said it would also allow them to establish an architecturally iconic design that integrates the local cultural narrative.
Construction on a revamp or new-build is likely to start in mid-2017.
