Trump, Brexit, and Scottish self-determination aren't putting New Zealand businesses off expanding their operations offshore.
Wellington-based technology company Koordinates is opening a Houston office, to operate alongside an existing office in Edinburgh.
Meanwhile, Auckland-based animal health company Argenta is taking over a large facility in Dundee, following the purchase of a new factory in Iowa.
Argenta co-founder Doug Cleverly said the company will always need to manufacture near its major markets.
"Europe, of course, is on the other side of the world. You can't be further away from a market than here.
"It sort of made sense to have manufacturing capability and capacity in that geography."
In fact, Brexit could be providing New Zealand businesses with more opportunities to expand into the United Kingdom.
Mr Cleverly said Britain's decision to leave the European Union may change operating parameters, but it's also weakened the pound in their favour.
He said they'll be manufacturing in Scotland, for an existing client in the United States, for distribution into European markets.
"I'm not actually seeing any scenario in which we could be harmed by Scotland pulling out of the UK, or the UK's eventual exit from the EU."
